About this program
The Indiana Brownfields Program's Petroleum Orphan Sites Initiative assists political subdivisions by investigating and undertaking corrective action at brownfield sites contaminated by petroleum releases from underground storage tanks when there is no viable responsible party to perform tank removal and cleanup. The initiative may provide site assessment, underground storage tank removal, and remediation to help close environmental conditions and facilitate redevelopment.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants are Indiana political subdivisions with orphan petroleum-contaminated brownfield sites where there is no viable responsible party able to complete cleanup.
Requirements
- Applicant must be an Indiana political subdivision.
- Site must be a brownfield contaminated with petroleum from an underground storage tank release.
- There must be no viable responsible party able to conduct tank removal and cleanup.
