About this program

The Sedalia Chapter 353 Midtown Residential Area Property Tax Abatement Program encourages reinvestment, rehabilitation, preservation, and removal of blighting conditions in the Midtown Residential Area. Eligible property owners may receive partial real property tax abatement after making qualifying improvements, with standard Chapter 353 treatment allowing taxes on land value only for up to 10 years and partial abatement for up to 15 additional years when applicable.

Eligibility

Property owners with eligible parcels in Sedalia's Midtown Residential Area redevelopment boundaries may apply for tax abatement after completing qualifying improvements.

Requirements

  • Property must be located within the Midtown Residential Area redevelopment boundaries.
  • All exterior blight must be removed or abated before receiving tax abatement.
  • Property must not have outstanding disqualifying code violations, delinquent property taxes, or recent illegal activity notices.
