Maine Apprenticeship Program – Construction Sector Expansion
The Maine Apprenticeship Program supports registered apprenticeships and certified pre-apprenticeships in construction trades. The program was awarded $500,000 by the Northern Border Regional Commission to expand construction and manufacturing apprenticeships across eight northern Maine counties.

Eligibility
Maine-based employers in construction, manufacturing, and related trades who sponsor registered apprentices. Programs must include at least 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and 144 hours of formal coursework per year.
Requirements
- Register as an apprenticeship sponsor with Maine DOL
- Provide structured on-the-job training (minimum 2,000 hours)
- Provide or arrange 144 hours of related technical instruction annually
