About this program
The Creative Capital Award is a national open-call grant for individual artists creating new work in visual arts, performing arts, film, and literature, including multidisciplinary, technology, and socially engaged projects. Awards are unrestricted project grants from $15,000 up to $50,000, plus professional development, industry connections, and community-building, with engagement over five years. Selection is through an external, multi-round review. The 2027 open call closed April 2, 2026; the next cycle has not been announced. Applicants are automatically considered for the State of the Art Prize.
Eligibility
Individual artists who are U.S. citizens, permanent legal residents, O-1 visa holders, or Tribal ID holders, at least 25 years old, with at least 5 years of professional artistic practice, and not enrolled in a degree-granting program. One project application per year.
