Muncie Community Development Block Grant Program

Muncie administers CDBG funds for eligible community development, housing, public service, infrastructure, and economic opportunity activities.

About this program

The City of Muncie's Community Development Department administers annual Community Development Block Grant funds from HUD to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income residents. Eligible uses include real property acquisition, relocation, demolition, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, public facilities and improvements, public services, energy conservation, and assistance to profit-motivated businesses for economic development and job creation or retention.

Eligibility

Eligible nonprofit organizations, public agencies, community partners, and in some cases businesses carrying out eligible activities that benefit Muncie low- and moderate-income residents or meet another CDBG national objective may apply when funding processes are open.

Requirements

  • Activity must serve Muncie and meet a HUD CDBG national objective.
  • Project must fit an eligible CDBG activity category.
  • Applicant must provide project scope, budget, eligibility documentation, and performance measures.
