The Central Business District Investment Program provides matching grants of up to $100,000 for vacant downtown storefront buildout and restoration.
About this program
The Waterbury Central Business District Investment Program is administered by the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation in partnership with the City of Waterbury. The program directs ARPA-funded grants to property owners within the Central Business District to help restore vacant ground-floor retail spaces and attract small businesses. Grants may cover interior and exterior buildout costs at $50 per square foot up to $100,000, and require a 100% match from the property owner, tenant, or both.
Eligibility
Property owners with vacant ground-floor commercial space in Waterbury's Central Business District that can document pandemic-related impact and match funds.
Requirements
- Applicant must own vacant ground-floor space within Waterbury's Central Business District.
- Property owner must be in good standing with the City of Waterbury.
- Applicant must prove negative impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
