About this program
The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority is the lead economic development agency for Schenectady County and invests a dedicated share of county sales tax revenue into capital projects that generate new business, create employment opportunities, expand the tax base, and support redevelopment, especially in downtown Schenectady and Metroplex service corridors. Assistance can include loans, grants, sales tax exemptions, and project-specific support for eligible commercial, hospitality, industrial, mixed-use, facade, infrastructure, and redevelopment projects. Eligibility
Businesses, developers, property owners, and project sponsors with eligible Schenectady County projects that create jobs, private investment, redevelopment, new tax base, or other economic development benefits.
Requirements
- Propose an eligible project in Schenectady County, with priority for downtown Schenectady or Metroplex service areas
- Demonstrate economic development benefits such as job creation, redevelopment, business growth, or tax-base expansion
- Use assistance for eligible project costs such as capital improvements, facade work, site infrastructure, building upgrades, or other approved economic development costs
