About this program
The City of Albany Small Business Facade Improvement Program is a citywide matching grant program administered by Capitalize Albany Corporation to help small businesses and nonprofits reinvest in their storefronts and commercial properties. The program can provide matching grants of up to $10,000 for eligible exterior renovations such as storefronts and entrances, exterior signs, lighting, windows, awnings, exterior painting, brickwork, and other visible improvements. The seventh-round application window closed in 2025, and Capitalize Albany states that an eighth-round application window is being organized for fall 2026.
Eligibility
Small businesses and nonprofits located in the City of Albany with eligible exterior renovation projects for commercial properties or storefronts.
Requirements
- Operate a small business or nonprofit in the City of Albany
- Use funds for eligible exterior improvements such as storefronts, entrances, signs, lighting, windows, awnings, painting, or brickwork
- Provide a matching investment for the project
