About this program
EPA SBIR funds U.S. small businesses developing innovative environmental technologies in areas including clean and safe water, air quality, sustainable materials management, land revitalization, and pollution prevention. Phase I awards provide up to $100,000 to establish feasibility; Phase II provides up to $400,000 (plus an optional $100,000 commercialization assistance) for prototype development. The program issues an annual solicitation typically opening in June.
Eligibility
For-profit U.S. small businesses meeting SBA size standards (generally under 500 employees) with majority U.S. citizen ownership. Must address EPA priority topic areas.
Requirements

- Register on SAM.gov, SBA Company Registry, and SBIR.gov
- Submit Phase I proposal during the annual solicitation window (typically June-August)
