SBA 8(a) Business Development – Native American-Owned Businesses in Vermont
SBA 8(a) is available to Vermont entrepreneurs of Native American descent who are enrolled in a federally recognized tribe. Vermont's state-recognized Abenaki members who are also enrolled in a federally recognized tribe, or who can demonstrate individual social disadvantage, may qualify.

Eligibility
Small businesses at least 51% owned by individuals enrolled in a federally recognized tribe, or by individuals who can demonstrate social disadvantage. Vermont state-recognized tribal members typically must show individual disadvantage rather than presumed disadvantage.
Requirements
- At least 51% owned by an eligible Native American or socially disadvantaged individual
- In business at least 2 years
- Owner's personal net worth under $850,000
