Entrepreneurship and Innovation Investment Fund

Provides West Virginia matching grants to small businesses with federal SBIR or STTR awards and Phase Zero proposal support.

About this program

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Investment Fund, managed by the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, supports research and development initiatives funded by federal SBIR and STTR awards. The fund can provide matching grants to eligible West Virginia small businesses with Phase I or Phase II SBIR/STTR awards and may provide Phase Zero grants to help offset costs of preparing competitive Phase I proposals.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are for-profit West Virginia-based small businesses pursuing or holding federal SBIR or STTR awards and conducting more than 50% of the research in West Virginia.

Requirements

  • Business must be a for-profit West Virginia-based business.
  • Business must have received a Phase I or Phase II SBIR/STTR award for matching grants.
  • Business must remain West Virginia-based for the duration of the SBIR/STTR project.
