Independence is a HOME Participating Jurisdiction using federal HOME funds for affordable housing activities, including construction or rehabilitation of rental housing, new housing for homeownership, down payment assistance tied to city-funded properties, and scattered-site rehabilitation and resale.
Eligibility
For-profit and nonprofit developers, housing partners, and income-qualified households participating in approved HOME-funded housing activities in Independence.
Requirements
- Coordinate with the city Community Development Department
- Meet HOME income, affordability, property, underwriting, and eligible activity requirements
- Submit development, rehabilitation, financing, compliance, and reporting documentation
