About this program
The City of Independence Economic Development Policy includes Community Improvement Districts as a special district tool for eligible public improvements, business district services, infrastructure, maintenance, marketing, and economic development activities. A CID can generate revenue through approved district taxes or assessments to finance improvements or services that benefit properties and businesses within the district.
Eligibility
Property owners, developers, businesses, and district petitioners seeking to create or use a Community Improvement District in Independence may apply through the City's economic development process.
Requirements
- Proposed district or project must be located in Independence.
- Applicant or petitioners must meet Missouri CID formation and petition requirements.
