North Dakota provides a tax credit for investments in qualified businesses certified for the seed capital investment program.
About this program
The Seed Capital Business Investment Tax Credit provides North Dakota income tax credits to taxpayers that invest in qualified businesses certified by the North Dakota Department of Commerce. The investment must be at risk, remain in the business for at least three years, and be made on or after the date of Commerce certification. The credit equals 45% of the qualified investment, with a maximum annual credit of $112,500 per taxpayer and a maximum cumulative amount of $500,000 per qualified business.

Taxpayers investing in North Dakota qualified businesses certified by the Department of Commerce for the seed capital investment program.
Requirements
- Business must be certified by the North Dakota Department of Commerce as a qualified business.
- Investment must be made on or after the date of certification.
