East Lansing Brownfield Tax Increment Financing
East Lansing may reimburse eligible brownfield redevelopment costs through local brownfield tax increment financing.
About this program
The East Lansing Brownfield Redevelopment Authority can use tax increment financing to reimburse eligible costs for redevelopment of contaminated, obsolete, functionally obsolete, or blighted properties. Approved brownfield plans can support eligible activities such as environmental assessment, remediation, demolition, site preparation, infrastructure, and other statutory brownfield costs.
Eligibility
Developers, businesses, and property owners with eligible brownfield redevelopment projects in East Lansing may seek Brownfield TIF reimbursement through the City.
Requirements
- Project must be located in East Lansing and involve eligible brownfield property conditions.
- Applicant must provide project scope, eligible activity budget, financing plan, site control, and public benefit information.
- A brownfield plan or plan amendment must be reviewed and approved through the local process.
