MassAbility (formerly MRC) – Vocational Rehabilitation Self-Employment Track
MassAbility (rebranded from Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission/MRC in 2024) supports self-employment as a vocational goal through its Career Services/VR program; the State Rehabilitation Council's BEO Committee met February 27, 2025 to develop a formal MassAbility self-employment strategy; provides counseling, assistive technology, training, and funding for services to achieve an employment goal including self-employment; statewide through MassAbility area offices.

Eligibility
Massachusetts residents age 14 or older with a moderate to severe disability that constitutes a substantial impediment to employment; self-employment must be an appropriate vocational goal per the MassAbility counselor.
Requirements
- Have a disability that constitutes a substantial impediment to employment
- Massachusetts resident age 14 or older
- Apply for MassAbility Career Services/VR through mass.gov/massability or a local MassAbility office
