The Alaska Commercial Fishing Loan Program supports predominantly resident fisheries and the maintenance and improvement of commercial fishing vessels and gear. Eligible Alaska residents can use loans for limited entry permits, quota shares, vessels, gear, vessel upgrades, gear upgrades, product quality improvements, and certain refinancing needs. Applicants must have been Alaska residents for the past two years.

Alaska resident commercial fishers who have lived in Alaska for the past two years may apply for eligible fishing permits, quota shares, vessels, gear, upgrades, or refinancing.
Requirements
- Applicant must have been an Alaska resident for the past two years.
- Applicant must not have past-due child support payments.
- Loan proceeds must be for eligible commercial fishing purposes such as permits, quota shares, vessels, gear, upgrades, or eligible refinancing.
