The Ethereum Foundation Academic Grants Round is an annual dedicated wave of grants supporting Ethereum-related academic research. Recent rounds have provided $1.5-2 million in total funding. The program welcomes proposals across cryptography, theoretical and applied economics, game theory, formal verification, P2P networking, consensus, and zero-knowledge proofs. The 2026 cycle also includes a PhD fellowship program offering $24,000 over one year to 9-10 selected fellows.
Eligibility
Academic institutions, consortia of universities, research centers, think tanks, and individuals with prior research experience. Projects must produce academic-quality output relevant to Ethereum.
Requirements
