New Hampshire Research and Development Tax Credit

New Hampshire provides a business tax credit for qualified manufacturing research and development expenditures.

About this program

The New Hampshire Research and Development Tax Credit provides a credit against business taxes for qualified manufacturing research and development expenditures made or incurred during the fiscal year. Business enterprises apply using Form DP-165 by June 30 following the taxable period and must include federal Form 6765. The credit applies to qualified manufacturing R&D wages for services rendered in New Hampshire and may be used against Business Profits Tax and, when unused, Business Enterprise Tax.

Eligibility

New Hampshire business enterprises with qualified manufacturing research and development expenditures during the fiscal year.

Requirements

  • Business must have qualified manufacturing research and development expenditures in New Hampshire.
  • Qualified expenditures must be wages for services rendered in New Hampshire that qualify and are reported under federal IRC Section 41.
  • Applicant must file Form DP-165 with the Department of Revenue Administration by June 30 following the taxable period.
