About this program
The City of Gary receives Community Development Block Grant entitlement funds from HUD and administers them locally for activities that benefit low- and moderate-income residents, prevent or eliminate slum and blight, or meet urgent community needs. Eligible local uses can include public services, neighborhood facilities, infrastructure, housing rehabilitation, code-related activities, and economic development projects carried out by eligible City departments, nonprofits, or partner organizations.
Eligibility
Eligible City departments, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, and qualified partners serving Gary residents or neighborhoods may seek CDBG support when the City opens its annual funding process.
Requirements
- Activity must primarily benefit low- and moderate-income Gary residents or meet another HUD national objective.
- Project must be located in or serve the City of Gary.
- Applicant must be an eligible public, nonprofit, or qualified implementing organization.
