About this program
The City of Independence is a HOME Participating Jurisdiction and uses federal HOME funds for affordable housing activities. The City currently focuses HOME resources on new housing development, scattered-site rehabilitation, and resale of existing homes in Independence, with funding available to for-profit and nonprofit developers on a case-by-case basis for eligible projects.
Eligibility
For-profit and nonprofit developers, housing organizations, and eligible project sponsors with affordable housing projects in Independence may seek HOME funding when available.
Requirements
- Project must be located in Independence and support affordable housing.
- Project must serve income-eligible households and meet HOME affordability requirements.
- Applicant must provide project scope, budget, financing plan, site control, and affordability documentation.
