Apprenticeship Credit

Provides South Carolina tax credits to employers that employ qualifying registered apprentices.

About this program

The South Carolina Apprenticeship Credit helps eligible businesses offset the direct and indirect costs of establishing and operating registered apprenticeship programs. Eligible businesses that sponsor a registered apprenticeship program can receive a tax credit for each qualifying apprentice employed for the required period during each year of apprenticeship.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are South Carolina businesses that sponsor registered apprenticeship programs and employ qualifying registered apprentices.

Requirements

  • Employer must sponsor or participate in a qualifying registered apprenticeship program.
  • Apprentice must be employed for at least seven months during each year of apprenticeship.
  • Credit may be claimed for each qualifying registered apprentice for up to four years.
