About this program
Ypsilanti uses the Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Act to promote redevelopment of contaminated, blighted, or functionally obsolete commercial and commercial housing properties by freezing taxable value on approved structures for 1 to 12 years, with districts created case by case.
Eligibility
Property owners or developers rehabilitating eligible obsolete commercial or commercial housing properties in Ypsilanti.
Requirements
- Petition City Council to create an OPRA district for the property
- Submit OPRA application packet, state application form, property, rehabilitation, and investment documentation
- Receive local and state approvals before claiming the exemption
