Micro-Grant for Food Security Program (MGFSP)

MGFSP provides micro-grants to support small-scale gardening, herding, and livestock operations to increase the quantity and quality of locally grown food in food-insecure communities. $2.2 million available in 2026; $5,000 per individual and $10,000 per organization.

Eligibility

Individuals (including backyard farmers) and organizations registered to do business in Hawaii, including Native Hawaiian organizations, nonprofits, and federally funded educational facilities. Applications open January 19–February 19, 2026.

Requirements

  • Must be an individual resident or registered organization in Hawaii
  • Must be engaged in small-scale gardening, herding, or livestock operations
  • Must serve or be located in a food-insecure community
